Use the Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS) to track Steve and his little red truck

The system uses Google Maps and automatically updates every few minutes.

Click on the satellite view and see pictures from Google Earth.

My family owns 80 acres in El Dorado County near the community of Latrobe.

It is 4.5 miles off of the highway on a very rough dirt road. The south property line is the Cosumnes River.

The river has provided countless days of swimming and fishing.

A few years ago we decided to build a barn. See the pictures of us building and enjoying the barn.

I first became interested in Amateur Radio when I was 14.  I passed my novice test in 1958. My call then was WV6CYP. 9 month latter I upgraded to general class and was WA6CYP.

When I got marred and lived in an apartment I let my license expire.

I got back into the hobby in 1992 as a no code tech KD6GXB. A year latter I passed my general class and kept the KD6GXB call. I got my present call, KN6OX, when I upgraded to Advanced.

I am most active on 20 meters looking for DX. I have hosted Field Day operations at the ranch in Latrobe several times.

Check the pictures and interesting Ham Radio Links.

My Grandson has played competitive Class 1 soccer since he was 11 years old. He was very lucky to be on a very good team.

They won 3 CYSA-N State Championships in 4 years, 1 Far West Championship and many other tournaments.

The boys that played for the El Dorado United Crew have gone many different directions. See the pictures and video highlights of The Crew.

I was born and raised in Sacramento, but in 1989 I moved to the city of Folsom.

Come and see Folsom and some of the nice people and business that make it a great place to live.

See Snooks Candies, a Folsom family tradition, visit the historic Folsom Powerhouse, take part in the discussions at www.myfolsom.com.

Join me as we cruse from the port of Sacramento to the National Liberty Ship Memorial at Pier 32 in San Francisco aboard the Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien.

Come and see the sites that include the USS Iowa, Rio Vista Bridge, Port Chicago Navel Ammunition Depot and the Benicia mothball fleet.

Come abroad and enjoy the hospitality of the crew on this living monument to the men that sailed her into harms way.

In September of 1960 two things happened to me:

I went to work for "The Telephone Company" and I met my wife. I no longer work for the phone company but I have the same wife.

I started as a Motorized Messenger. After 18 months I transferred into Toll and became a Transmission Man. No I did not work on cars and trucks.

Over the years I met a lot of people and am lucky to consider them my friends.

A group of "Old Tollies" from Sacramento get together twice a year. They meet at the old Sam’s Hof Brau on Watt Avenue in June and December.

Here some pictures from the December 2005 get together.

Here are some pictures of my tour of the construction of the new eastern approach of the Oakland San Francisco Bay Bridge.

The tour started in Stockton were we saw the construction of the roadbed sections. Then we went to Oakland and got on a boat. The boat took us around the piers under construction. After that it took us to the last pier with completed road sections in place.

We climbed a scaffolding to the completed roadbed. From there we walked back to Oakland.

I have a slide show showing the first roadbed section coming from Stockton and being installed and links to the CalTrans and the California Alliance for Jobs sites. Both of these sites have more pictures and stories about the construction of the bridge

The Saturday after Thanksgiving kicks off the official Christmas Season in San Francisco. It is also around our wedding anniversary.

In 2006 Mary and I went to San Francisco for the weekend. We had lunch in Chinatown, dinner on North Beach and ended with a cappuccino at the Tosca Cafe. Saturday we had lunch at Lefty O’Doul’s and dinner at Scomas and finished with Irish Coffees at the Buena Vista.

Join us on our tour of San Francisco starting with the view from our hotel

Mostly Birds a Calf and One Tough Ass Jackrabbit

Eagles and Agriculture

Every year during calving season Eagles migrate to the Carson Valley in Nevada.  On February 28, 2009 Mary and I took a tour of 5 ranches to see these magnificent birds and to get a snap shot into the lives of these family ranchers.

The Carson Valley is formed by the mighty Sierra Nevada Mountains to the west and Pine Nuts to the east it’s home to a hardy group of ranchers that still live with the values and traditions that made the American West.

Take a look at the few of the pictures I took.

I took a ride on the Placerville and Sacramento Valley Railroad the other day.  We started at Old Placerville Rd and Highway 50 to the Latrobe Washout.  The ride was aboard the Skagit a self propelled trolley.

A couple of dignitaries  on the ride were Folsom City Manager Kerry Miller and Councilman Ernie Sheldon
